**Overall assessment of hosting & data: **

Bubble is a managed no-code/low-code platform for full-stack web apps with database, workflows, authentication, plugins, APIs, mobile app features, and hosting. Complete self-hosting of the Bubble platform is not publicly documented as a standard option. Positives include rapid app development, integrated hosting, Security Dashboard, Privacy Rules, Enterprise Dedicated AWS Instance, and workload scaling. Critical concerns are platform lock-in, cloud/AWS dependency, plugin risks, external APIs, and limited suitability for particularly sensitive data. 


**Conclusion: **

Bubble is very well suited for MVPs, internal tools, and web apps; for GDPR-critical applications, Enterprise region, DPA, Privacy Rules, plugin review, data minimization, and a clear security review should be mandatory.

**GDPR assessment:** From a GDPR perspective, Bubble is conditionally suitable. 


**Positive** is that Bubble offers a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement, acts as a processor, addresses SCCs/transfer mechanisms, and documents security measures such as TLS, AES-256 encryption, AWS infrastructure, SOC 2 Type II, penetration tests, and Privacy Rules. It is also positive that Enterprise customers can purchase a dedicated AWS instance with a choice of hosting region. 


**Negative **is that Bubble is a US provider, apps run by default on the Bubble Cloud/AWS, and Bubble explicitly states in the DPA that sensitive data should not be entered into the service. In addition, plugins, APIs, tracking, payment providers, and external databases create additional data flows.
