For GDPR-sensitive companies, Perplexity Enterprise or the Sonar API is significantly more suitable than Free/Pro/Max. Enterprise/API offer a DPA, no-training commitments, and stronger security/retention controls. Critical concerns remain US/North America hosting, global subprocessors/model providers, and the lack of documented EU-only data residency.


**Conclusion:**

Perplexity is conditionally suitable for GDPR-relevant enterprise use, most likely via Enterprise Pro / Enterprise Max or the Sonar API with a DPA/data processing agreement, no-training commitment, and clear internal usage policies. For sensitive personal data, professional secrets, health data, or strictly regulated content, Perplexity is not recommended without an Enterprise/API setup and a data protection review.
