**Overall assessment of hosting & data: **

Wix is primarily a managed SaaS website builder with multi-cloud hosting, AI website creation, editor, templates, domains, eCommerce, bookings, marketing tools, SEO, and an app market. Traditional on-premises or local hosting of the Wix platform is not publicly documented as a standard option. Positives include ease of use, integrated hosting, global CDN, security features, automatic infrastructure, AI creation tools, and business features without requiring your own server administration. A critical point is that users cannot choose the server location themselves, Wix uses cloud and data center infrastructure worldwide, and data protection depends heavily on configurations such as cookie banners, forms, third-party apps, tracking, payments, and integrations. 


**Conclusion:** 

Wix is very well suited for fast, cloud-based websites, shops, and marketing pages without technical effort. For strict EU data residency, on-prem requirements, or very sensitive data, Wix is only suitable to a limited extent and should be reviewed before use with a DPA, third-party assessment, and proper data protection configuration. **Positive** is that Wix provides a Data Processing Agreement for users, which governs the processing of personal data between Wix and users. **Negative** is that Wix uses servers and cloud providers worldwide, may share data with affiliates, third-party providers, analytics, advertising, and social media partners, and the website operator must configure external apps, tracking, cookies, forms, and payment providers in a privacy-compliant manner themselves.
